Corporate America Needs Software, Stop Being Stupid.

Dear stupid Market,

Software is in everything and so you decided to sell off… everything…!??!
SPGI, MCO, Blackstone… doesn’t matter.. if it’s close enough to software then sell it, sell it all!?

Are you kidding me !? Your stupidity has sunk to a new low. Incredible!

Corporate companies aren’t going to replace their mission critical software with AI.

You’re being stupid and let me explain why.

For a lot of companies, that have been around for a long time like banks, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare (hospitals), retail chains (Walmart, Home Depot, etc..), fast foods like McDonald’s, etc.. one of the reasons they’ve been around for so long is that they’ve managed develop important efficiencies on the way that they run their business.

Companies develop hundreds even thousands of business processes to streamline how their business operate in order to make it as efficient and as productive as possible.

A lot of these business processes are unique to the company. They are very hard to replicate because they require specific set of tools, logistics, software, knowledge, human interactions, partnerships and what not.

Often times, in a business process, the software is the “glue” that makes everything else fall into place.

These unique business processes are what allows these companies to remain competitive for a very long time.

They are like a family’s secret recipe and changing the recipe can be fatal.

For example, how many times have you experienced a decline in the customer service experience after the company has been taken over by new management ? Suddenly, buying from that company no longer feels the same and you decide to buy from a competitor instead.

It happens all the time.

You don’t mess with a winning recipe.

It’s the same with business processes. If you have a winning business process then the last thing you want to do is mess with it.

Once software such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, Manhattan Associates, etc.. are embedded in a company’s business processes, they usually never get out.

Smart companies aren’t foolish enough to wreck their business processes and replace them with AI.

And no, smart companies don’t have the time to try and vibe code their way to replacing mission critical software. If something goes wrong, they want to be able to blame someone or some third party company.

It’s much easier to have third party software companies be accountable. Smart companies want to have recourse when something goes wrong.

That’s why, Corporate America will always buy software instead of trying to vibe code their own. It’s just not worth it, especially for companies who’s core business is not IT.

That’s how companies do business.

So, stop romanticizing about AI taking over everything that moves.

Grow up, stop thinking like a child, stupid Market!
